Agriculture & Farm Services
Traut Companies delivers complete water solutions built for the demands of modern farming. From powering irrigation pivots to supplying livestock barns and specialty crops, we help farmers access dependable, efficient water—year-round.
Our new well drilling services identify the best water sources and deliver high-capacity wells sized for agriculture. Paired with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), your pump system runs smarter, saves energy, and matches real-time field and livestock demand.
Keeping your farm running smoothly is our priority, which is why we offer full service and repair for wells, pumps, and irrigation systems—backed by crews ready in all seasons. Our water treatment specialists protect your herd, crops, and equipment from iron, manganese, hardness, and other contaminants common in farm wells.
For added confidence, our State Certified Water Lab provides fast, accurate testing for nitrates, bacteria, and other critical farm water concerns.
And when it comes to farm irrigation, we design, optimize, and support systems that deliver reliable performance from planting through harvest.
Traut Companies is your long-term partner for safe, sustainable, and productive agricultural water systems.
New Well Drilling
At Traut Companies, we specialize in new-well drilling for agricultural operations, and we’re ready to serve your farm year-round—with rigs and crews in the field even through the Midwest’s harshest conditions. We begin by locating dependable aquifers and underground water flow—so you get a water source built for your livestock or irrigation needs from the ground up.
Our drilling capabilities for new agricultural wells include:
- Aquifer and water-finding services: well siting, depth estimates, yield analysis
- Full-scale drilling any time of year: mud-rotary methods designed for farm sites
- Large-diameter production wells tailored for irrigation and agricultural water demands
- Test drilling and pumping to verify yield before completion
- Complete permitting, documentation and well-completion services
Count on us to deliver a robust new well, designed for the demands of farming and built to last.

- Mud rotary, reverse circulation, and air hammer
- Air and mud rotary drilling with surface sampling up to 750 feet
- 2-inch, 4-inch, and 6-inch wells up to 600 feet
- 8-inch and 12-inch wells up to 350 feet
VFD (Variable Frequency Drive)
When your farm’s well station is the heartbeat of irrigation or livestock watering, precision matters. With a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) we help control your well-pump motor so it runs exactly to your farm’s demand, not just “full-tilt or off”. That means smoother start-ups, less mechanical stress and significantly lower electrical draw—ideal when you’re pulling water for pivots, hose reels or high-capacity livestock operations. Research shows VFDs can save energy, remove wear and extend equipment life.
For farms where flow rates or pressure change (for example multiple zones, variable terrain or varying livestock demand), a VFD lets you match the output precisely. We integrate the VFD with your new well system—so the entire package, from well casing to pump to control, works in sync to deliver cost-efficient, reliable water supply.
Ag and Farm Well, Pump and Irrigation Service
Our service doesn’t stop after drilling the well — we keep your farm’s water supply running at full strength. Whether you’re irrigating fields or fulfilling livestock water demands, our service team handles every component: from well inspections and pump repairs to system adjustments, pressure-tank checks and full irrigation-system audits. Our expert technicians support large-diameter wells, high-volume pumps, hose reels or center-pivot systems, ensuring reliable flow when you need it most.
We’re equipped for year-round service in the Midwest’s changing seasons and are ready for emergency calls when crop or herd water supply is critical. To keep your farm going, you can count on streamlined maintenance, prompt diagnostics and efficient repair of wells, pumps and irrigation systems all under one roof.
